I’m very excited to share my writing journey with you.
Let me share a little backstory.
When I was growing up, one of my favorite parts of learning English in school was writing short stories. In primary school, every student had to write a composition of no more than 500 words. This was done as part of class assignments and during exams. While many dreaded it, I couldn’t wait. It was one of my favorite subjects.
What excited me most was how quickly I could imagine a story and shape it into something with structure, flow, and creativity. In less than 40 minutes (our given time limit), I could bring the story to life, and my characters could tell interesting tales.
To kick us off, we were given the first sentence to begin with. Other times, we could be given a phrase, a wise saying, a topic, or any prompt from the teacher or examiner. No matter what it was, I enjoyed the challenge of shaping something creative and imaginative out of it.
Years after leaving school, that passion for storytelling still remains. The thrill of turning a simple prompt into fiction intrigues me, and it is my inspiration to start this blog. Here, I’ll share my creative stories and look forward to hearing your feedback. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them.
Unlike the 500-word limit of my school days, I’m giving myself more room to explore on this blog. Stories will range from 1,000 to 10,000 words, and sometimes I might write something short and punchy under 500 words. I’m keeping it freestyle and letting each story find its own length, form, and shape.
So, welcome!
Hugs & Kisses,
Mutono
